“Whoaaaaaaa We’re Halfway There!”
Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday to you all! Wow. I cannot tell you how excited I am that it is finally Wednesday and the week is almost over- it sure feels good.
As I sit here in my living room deciding what it is I want to share with you this week, I keep going back to one thing that I had been contemplating this morning as I was eating my bowl of cheerios: the NEWS. Corny, I know, but just hear me out real quick- the news is SO important to media in everyday life, yet when you think about it, how often do you find yourself checking up on the latest in USA Today or New York Times? I know that when I was younger, the news TERRIFIED me. I wanted nothing to do with news on the television, news on the internet, and especially the actual newspaper that came every day. It wasn’t that I was afraid of what was in the news, but more so of the amount of information that is given in news. I remember watching television at home and my parents would turn on the news and instantly it felt as if they had changed the channel to something in a different language. Crazy, I know- but it’s true. The news was something that I forever thought only grown-ups were supposed to be interested in. Well, I have some news of my own for you: we ARE grown-ups. I write this blog to you today to encourage you all to get into the news you see everyday in media. Start by watching the nightly news at home every so often, or maybe pick a section of the newspaper and read an article, or save your homepage on your internet to a news website. I encourage you to do anything you can to get into news through any sort of media. I personally use the US Today app on my phone and constantly check it. I LOVE knowing what’s going on in the world around me. I even have my phone give me updates so that when breaking news happens, I will know about it and am able to read it instantly. The news helps you stay more aware of your surroundings, allows you to have intelligent conversations, and so much more. It is the source of everything in today’s world. Even in OneQuay we have our own section that will fill you in on important things going on in the world- CHECK IT OUT! It’s so important to know what’s happening in the world. Try it out. Tomorrow morning, pick an article in the newspaper and give it a good read. I guarantee that once you do that, you will instantly feel as if you know EVERYTHING that’s going on- just from reading one article. Who knows, maybe you will overhear a friend talking about something you read or watched in the news and you will be able to join in on that conversation and share your own thoughts. The news is so important in today’s world and I encourage each of you, if you aren’t already, to get into the news and know what’s going on around you- you won’t regret it.
I hope you all have a great finish to the week. Make the most of it and finish it out strong! I’ll see you next time.
